NEET MDS

NEET MDS or the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test is the single most entrance test to gain entry in the MDS courses offered by the various dental colleges in India. Any State or Institution does not conduct any individual entrance examination for admission into the MDS courses. This entrance examination includes:

  • All India 50% quota seats for all states except Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Telangana
  • State Quota seats for all the states and Union Territories of India
  • MDS courses offered at all Private Dental Colleges, and Deemed Universities across India except AIIMS, New Delhi
  • MDS courses offered by Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions

The registration fee is INR 3750 for the candidates belonging to the general/OBC category and INR 2750 for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), NEET MDS 2021 requires the aspirants to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completion of one year of mandatory internship or likely to complete it by 31st March 2021.
  • Possession of BDS degree/provisional BDS certificate from a dental college or institute approved by the Dental Council of India.
  • Possession of the permanent/provisional registration certificate issued by the Dental Council of India or the State Dental Council.

Aspirants must read the NEET MDS Information Bulletin available on the NBE website www.nbe.edu.in before they fill the registration form for the test. They also have to deposit a registration fee along with the application form.

Results, Scoring and Ranking

Results

The results for NEET MDS 2021 is declared on 31 December 2020. Candidates who appeared in this exam can download their scorecard from the NBE website.

Ranking

Different ranks in NEET MDS 2021:

  1. NEET MDS 2021 rank is the overall position of the candidate amongst all the candidates who appeared for the examination.
  2. All India 50% quota rank is the overall position of the candidate amongst all the candidates who appeared in the examination for All India 50% quota seats.
  3. All India 50% quota Category rank is the overall position of the candidate in SC/ST/OBC category in the entrance examination for All India 50% quota seats.

In case if two or more candidates score the same marks, the overall merit position will be decided by using the tie-breaker criteria:

  • A candidate who has a higher number of correct responses in the paper will get a higher rank.
  • If this cannot be applied, the candidate’s date of birth will be considered. Elder candidate will be placed in a higher merit position.

counseling

Candidates who get marks equal to or above the cut-off score in NEET MDS as per the NBE regulations will be eligible for the counseling sessions. Counseling for NEET MDS 2019 will be conducted in the second week of March 2021 by the various designated authorities depending upon the categories of MDS seats. The date and venue for same will be updated on the official website of NBE.

Counseling for All India 50% quota seats will consist of two rounds. If any position stays vacant, it will be transferred to the respective state governments for allotment under state quota.
The counseling procedure for NEET MDS 2021 will comprise the following steps:

  1. Online Registration for NEET MDS Counseling by the candidate
  2. Putting the indicative seats in order of priority by the candidate and locking his choices
  3. First round of Seat allotment process
  4. Publication of the results of the First round of Counseling
  5. Reporting by the candidate at the allotted Dental College
  6. Second round of Seat allotment process (Against seats which remain vacant after the first round)
  7. Publication of the results of the Second round of Counseling
  8. Reporting by the candidate at the allotted Dental College
  9. Transfer of the left-over seats to State Quota

Candidates should carry the following documents along for the counseling sessions:

  • Rank Letter issued by NBE
  • Marksheet of BDS examinations
  • BDS Degree Certificate
  • Certificate of Internship completion
  • Provisional or Permanent Registration Certificate from Dental Council of India or the State Council  
  • Class 10th Certificate (As a proof of Date of Birth)
  • Valid Identity proofs like Voter ID/ PAN card/ Aadhar card/Driving license
  • Physical handicap medical certificate, if applicable
  • SC/ST/OBC certificate, if applicable

Besides the above documents, candidates have to carry these for State Level Counseling sessions:

  • Registration form of NEET MDS 2021 counseling along with the payment receipt, for respective states.
  • Two passport size photographs which should be the same as uploaded on the registration form.
