NEET PG

NEET PG or the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test is the single most entrance test to secure admissions in the MD/MS/PG Diploma courses offered by the various medical colleges of India. Any State or Institution does not conduct a separate entrance test for admission into these post-graduate courses. This entrance examination consists of:

  • All India 50% quota seats for all states except Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Telangana. PG seats of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may get included in All India 50% quota seats after confirmation of the State government to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the government of India.
  • State Quota seats for all the states and Union territories of India
  • MD/MS/PG Diploma courses at all Private Medical Colleges and Deemed Universities across India except AIIMS, New Delhi; PGIMER, Chandigarh; JIPMER, Puducherry; NIMHANS, Bengaluru; Sree Chitra Tribunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Trivandrum.
  • MD/MS/ PG Diploma courses offered by the Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.
  • DNB (Diplomate in National Board) Broad Speciality courses

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts the entrance exam NEET PG. The candidates for this entrance examination should fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completion of one year of mandatory internship or likely to complete it by 31st March 2019.
  • Possession of MBBS degree/provisional MBBS certificate from a medical college or institute approved by the Indian Medical Council.
  • Possession of the permanent/provisional registration certificate issued by the Indian Medical Council /State Medical Council.

Besides these eligibility criteria, foreign medical graduates or Indian citizens who have obtained their MBBS degree from the medical colleges outside India should qualify a screening test, Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by NBE before they register for NEET PG test.

Aspirants must read the NEET PG Information Bulletin available on the NBE website www.nbe.edu.in before they fill the registration form for the test. Aspirants from the General category are required to pay a registration fee of INR 3750 along with the application form. However, the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category are required to pay a registration fee of INR 2750.

Results, Scoring and Ranking

Results

The results for NEET PG 2018 would be declared on 31st January 2019. Candidates who appeared in this examination can download their scorecard from the NBE website.

Ranking

The results would be declared for the following ranks:

  1. NEET PG 2019 rank is the overall rank of the candidate amongst all the candidates who appeared for the examination.
  2. All India 50% quota rank is the overall position of the candidate amongst all the candidates who appeared in the examination for All India 50% quota seats.
  3. All India 50% quota Category rank is the overall position of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC category in the entrance examination for All India 50% quota seats.                       

If more than one candidate gets the same marks in the examination, the overall merit position will get decided by using the following tie-breaker criteria in the descending order:

  • A candidate who has a higher number of correct responses in the paper will get a more elevated merit position.
  • If this cannot be applied, aggregate percentage of all the MBBS professionals will get considered. A candidate with the higher percentage will get a higher rank.

For the foreign medical graduates, the scores of FMGE test will be considered to decide the merit position. If this also can’t be applied, the candidate’s date of birth will be considered. Elder candidate will get a higher merit position.

counseling

Candidates who get equal to or above the cut-off marks in NEET PG as per the NBE regulations will be eligible for the counseling sessions. When sufficient numbers of candidates in respective categories fail to secure the minimum marks in the entrance test as per the NBE regulations, the Central Government in association with the Indian Medical Council may lower the cut-off scores for admission into the post-graduate courses for the current year.

Counseling for NEET PG 2019 will be conducted in the second week of March 2019 by the various designated authorities depending upon the category of the MD/MS/PG Diploma seats. Eligible candidates can view the dates and venue of the counseling sessions on the official website of NBE.

Details of the counseling procedure for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses in Armed Forces Medical Services will be updated on the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee, www.mcc.nic.in. No seats are reserved for the candidates of SC/ST/OBC/PH categories in AFMS institutions offering post-graduate courses.

Candidates should carry the below-mentioned documents at the counseling centers:

  • Rank Letter issued by NBE
  • Marks sheet of MBBS examinations
  • MBBS Degree Certificate
  • Certificate of Internship completion
  • Provisional or Permanent Registration Certificate from the Indian Medical Council or the State Medical Council
  • FMGE mark sheet in case of foreign medical graduates
  • Class 10th Certificate (As a proof of Date of Birth)
  • Valid identity proofs like Voter ID/ PAN card/ Aadhar card/Driving license
  • Physical handicap medical certificate, if applicable
  • SC/ST/OBC certificate, if applicable

For the State level counseling sessions, candidates have to carry these in addition to the above documents:

  • Registration form of NEET PG 2019 along with the payment receipt for the respective states
  • Two passport size photographs which should be the same as uploaded on the registration form
