#1 Bachelor of Commerce
The most obvious choice for the students passing out through 12th Commerce. A Bachelor of Commerce [B. Com.] degree is designed to develop entrepreneurship and managerial skills in students so as to enable them to establish and manage the day to day operations of business establishments effectively, while at the same time understanding the contemporary business environment and developing competence in a particular areas of business. Most universities structure the program to construct a strong foundational grounding in core commerce subjects such as Accounting, Taxation, Economics, Statistics, Auditing, along with a choice of Cost accounting, Finance, Marketing and Human Resources.
An Honors in Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com. (Hons.)] is similar to regular/professional B. Com degree as discussed above but with extensive specialization oriented focus on certain core topics Cost Accounting, Taxation, Economics. An Honors degree requires additional academic courses to be completed with higher academic performance standards. The B.Com. (Hons.) degree often serves as entry criteria to postgraduate programs in commerce and business domain.
Apart from the standard definitions available everywhere, B. Com. actually prepares one to achieve true Financial Freedom, without a dependency for a job. I am not talking about entrepreneurship here though! Any syllabus scrutiny for B. Com. Course would reveal that they cover subjects like Stocks, Derivatives, Options, Foreign Exchange as well as Security Analysis and Portfolio Management. Now, as a teenager majority of the students would read these subjects, as just another subject in their semesters. But, if a student takes a little effort to understand these few sub-topics from the entire syllabus, I believe there is an enormous opportunity ahead to become a Professional Stock trader, where you can trade company stocks for a living, without worrying about going to a 9 – 5 job.
